BAJUS president Sayem Sobhan Anvir said all owners across the country need to unite to solve the problems of the jewellery industry. If all the jewellery traders of the country become members of BAJUS, discipline will come in this sector. Besides, the business leader has urged to build a statistical database containing BAJUS information.

Sayem Sobhan Anvir, managing director of Bashundhara Group, said this at the second meeting of the executive committee of Bangladesh Jeweller’s Association-BAJUS held in the capital on Monday night (December 20). Hannan Azad, President of Bashundhara City Shop Owners Association and Vice President of BAJUS greeted Sayem Sobhan Anvir, newly elected President of BAJUS with flowers at the meeting.

At the meeting, BAJUS President Sayem Sobhan Anvir said, “We are pursuing this path with the aim of making BAJUS internationally known and organizationally strong and dynamic.” Initiatives have been taken to form 10 standing committees initially to ensure the scope of service and accountability of the work of BAJUS. BAJUS needs to set up modern management offices in all districts. The managing directors of Bashundhara Gold Refinery Limited and Arisha Jeweller’s Limited also said that the BAJUS Secretariat has been set up to speed up the activities of the organization.

BAJUS president Sayem Sobhan Anvir further said, “We will try to improve the industry in the future.” I have seen so far that only imports are made in the jewellery industry.

We have not yet been able to develop exports. Further expansion and development of the jewellery industry in the country needs to be developed. Basically, my goal will be the expansion of the jewellery industry. In this case, I will try to solve the problem of VAT and tax for the expansion of the jewellery industry. The managing director of Bashundhara Group, the country’s largest industrial entrepreneur, said that we want to become an exporting country in the jewellery industry.

Also speaking at the meeting were BAJUS executive committee members and former presidents of the organization Dr. Dilip Kumar Roy and Enamul Haque Khan Dolan, BAJUS vice presidents Gulzar Ahmed, Anwar Hossain, Hannan Azad, Badal Chandra Roy, and Dr. Dewan Aminul Islam Shahin, general secretary Dilip Kumar Agarwala, Assistant Editor Masudur Rahman and Treasurer Uttam Banik. Also present at the meeting were BAJUS co-editors Samit Ghosh Apu, Bidhan Malakar, Mohammad Joynal Abedin Khokon, Mohammad Liton Hawlader, Narayan Chandra Dey, Mohammad Tajul Islam Lavlu, and Enamul Haque Bhuiyan Liton.
